Emily E. Fisler, first year ARCS/MWC chapter scholar is a PhD candidate in aerospace engineering at the University of Maryland. Emily's research is on lithium-sulfur batteries used by electric takeoff and landing aircraft. Emily was inspired to study aerospace engineering by her grandfathter who worked in developing RTGs (power system) used in the Voyager spacecraft. Emily is also a licensed pilot with a love for helicopters. She understands how important it is to spark interest in engineering at a young age, so is involved in outreach programs and organizations such as Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics.
