From the Co-Presidents - September 2026
Dear ARCS MWC Members,
The Fall Membership Meeting on Sept 13 at Amy and Mark Mykityshyn’s home was an exciting start to the 2026–27 year. Thank you, Amy and Mark, for hosting the Chapter in your beautiful home. At the meeting, we were pleased to welcome 29 members and to share our congratulations with this year’s ARCS Light Award recipient, Mary Jo Ruane. Mary Jo has been an enthusiastic and dedicated member of ARCS MWC since 2016, when she was sponsored by Joan Jordano, and we are delighted to recognize her for the energy, generosity, and spirit she brings to our Chapter.
The 2026–27 membership Blue Books were distributed at the meeting. A big shout-out to Beth Czaban for all her work producing this year’s Blue Book. If you did not receive your copy, please reach out to Karen Magley or Hilary Sparrell at mwcmembership@arcsfoundation.org.
Just around the corner is our annual Scholar Awards Reception, which will take place on Nov 5 at the National Academy of Sciences. We hope you can all join us to meet and celebrate our amazing Scholars. We are especially excited to hear from our featured speaker and ARCS MWC Scholar Alum, Dr. GP Sandhoo, a distinguished 1995–97 ARCS MWC Physics Scholar at George Washington University and the husband of ARCS MWC member Ravinder Sandhoo. During the event, we will also be honoring our newest cohort of 17 PhD Scholars and five Undergraduate Scholars. More details regarding the SAR can be found below.
We would like to thank all of our board members for taking on leadership roles that are critical to the success of our Chapter. We also thank Kristen Bloschock, Miriam Erickson, Michelle Francis, Amy Mykityshyn, and Toni Schierling for serving as Members at Large.
As we begin another exciting year for ARCS MWC, we are grateful for the enthusiasm, generosity, and commitment of our members. Thank you for all that you do to support our scholars and advance the mission of our Chapter. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead and to seeing many of you at our upcoming events!
