Long-Serving Member: Elizabeth Forster

Posted on Friday, February 6, 2026

Elizabeth (Betsy) Forster joined ARCS MWC in 2011 and was sponsored by Doris Pierson. We thank Betsy for her many contributions to ARCS MWC for the last 14 years, advancing our mission!

Betsy first became acquainted with ARCS MWC when she and Doris were bridge partners playing with the ARCS bridge group. She quickly became excited about the mission of ARCS as she and her husband, Pete, feel it is important to help young people further their education starting, in some cases, in elementary school. They particularly want to help those students who might be facing financial challenges. In fact, she said her proudest moments in ARCS MWC have been when she and Pete have sponsored Scholars

Betsy is also a landscape artist! Many might remember that she donated one of her landscapes as one of the auction items during the chapter’s 55th anniversary Eagle Gala. She says that as an artist, she feels strongly about nurturing the creativity of individuals in their various fields of study.

When asked what she would like to say to ARCS MWC members, particularly newer members, Betsy says we should all believe very strongly in education and help students at all levels obtain an education. She says this is particularly important for ARCS Scholars whose discoveries are outstanding and have the potential to significantly benefit society.

[Note: ARCS scientific research has informed art history and expanded conservation techniques! For example, Damon Conover, an ARCS MWC Scholar a few years ago at the George Washington University, used his cutting-edge imaging technology to conduct non-invasive analyses of paintings crafted through centuries, from Old Masters of the Italian Renaissance to modern artists like Jackson Pollack.]
